      From the records of St. Owen's Parish on the western coast of the Isle of Jersey (off the coast of France) in the village of Le Tacq. Edmond Jean born Oct. 1597, cillage of Le Tacq, St. Owens Parish, isle of Jersey, where he died Nov. 12, 1674. He married April 25th, 1638, Esther Le Rossignol (sister of Augustine Le Rossignol) daughter of Jean Le Rossignol. Esther died June 25, 1672.

      These Jeans and Rossignols were families of great antiquity on the island and both were followers of the sea; one of the latter traded with natives at Acadia (North America) as early as 1604.

      Augustine Jean, son of Edmond John and Esther le Rossgnol, was born on the Isle of Jersey, Jan. 9, 1647, and died in Portland ("Falmouth") Maine, July 3, 1719. He came to America in the spring of 1675. He served in King Philip's War. For military service in King Philip's War 1675-6 in Captain Beer's Company, also in Captain Turner's Company, he received from Thomas Danforth, Governor of the . . .
