CHARLES DE RHAM DIES IN 80TH YEAR
Member of an Old New York Family--Long Prominent in Society Here

Charles de Rham, long prominent in society in this city and Europe, died today after a short illness, at his home, 9 East Sixty-third Street, in his eightieth year. He never had engaged in business or a profession.

Mr. de Rham, who was the son of the later Charles and Laura de Rham, was born on Jan. 30, 1854, in the old family mansion at 24 Fifth Avenue, known as the Brevoort House, which has been demolished. His first ancestors in this country came to New York from Swizerland 125 years ago. Mr. de Rham studied under private tutors here and in Europe. He was a member of the Knickerbocker and other clubs and the Downtown Association.

Surviving is a widow, the former Emily H. Foster; two sons, Henry C. of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., and Frederick F. de Rham of Tuxedo Park, N.Y., and a daughter, Mrs. John Rutherford of 159 East Ninety-fourth Street.

Funeral services will be held at 2:45 P.M. today at St. Philips-in-the-Highlands, Garrison, N.Y. The de Rham Summer home is at Cold Spring, near by.
