From Mary Lou Sackett:
Scotch Grove ObituaryWe are indebted to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Graham for the following obituary notice. Mrs. Martha Hutton passed away at her home in Bennett, Nebraska, on November 12, 1932, at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 14 days. Martha Jane Ennis was born at Clermont, Indiana, on January 28, 1843. At the age of seven years she moved with her parents to Scotch Grove. On November 18, 1858 she was united in marriage to William W. Hutton, of Scotch Grove township and to this union eight children were born, four of whom preceded her in death. Those surviving are: James E. of Moline, Kansas; Charles D., of Lincoln, Neb.; Leroy W.., of Bennett, Neb, and Emma Ewing of Bendict, Neb. She also leaves fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren besides a host of other relatives and many other friends. Mrs. Hutton had been a faithful member of the Christian church since the age of 13 years, and always attended its services as long as she was able. She was always a busy woman, remarkably active during her last years making rugs and quilts for her great grandchildren and grandchildren, taking great pleasure in this as well as being interested in all the activities of those about her. Few people reaching such an advanced age are able to enjoy life as did Mrs. Hutton. She was very hospitable, delighting in gathering her relatives and friends into her home, on many occasions. She will be greatly missed in her home and in the community by all who knew her.
