MRS ROBERT A. HUME
In a radio message yesterday from Wai, India, to the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, Boston, the death of Mrs Robert A. Hume, widow of Dr Robert A. Hume, was announced.
Dr and Mrs Hume were retired In 1927 by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, after nearly a half-century of service in India. Mr Hume died in 1929.
Mrs Hume was the daughter of Rev Samuel Fairbank, who went to India in 1846. She was educated at Bradford Academy, Bradford, and Mt Holyoke College, and sailed for India in 1882, being stationed at Ahmednagar. In 1887 she married Dr Hume. Since her husband's death Mrs Hume had made her home with her son, Dr Walter F. Hume in Wai.
Mrs Hume is survived by three sons and a daughter, Wilson M. Hume, Y. M. C. A. secretary in Lahore, India; Dr Walter Fairbank Hume of the Wai Hospital, Wai, India; Henry Wood Hume, a business man of Albany, N Y, and Mrs Mary Hume Maguire of 104 Lakeview av, Cambridge, wife of Prof John M. Maguire of the Harvard Law School.

REV ROBERT A. HUME, MISSIONARY, DEAD
Rev Robert A. Hume, DD, Internationally known figure in Christian missions, and beloved friend of India, where he served for 52 years as a missionary under the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, died last night at the Corey Hill Hospital. Dr Hume, who since his retirement fro (sic) inactive service had been living at 165 Grove st, Auburndale, was born in .Bombay, India, in 1847. Last March he celebrated his 82d birthday. He attended Yale College, class of 1863, and Yale and Andover Theological Seminaries.
Dr Hume was the son of Rev Robert W. Hume, who served in the Marathi Mission of the American Board from 1839 to 1854. He is survived by his wife, Mrs Katie Fairbank Hume of Abburndale, four sons and three daughters: Dr Ruth Peabody Hume, head of the American Hospital for Women and Children in Ahmednagar, India; Prof Robert Ernest Hume of Union Seminary, New York city; Mrs Hannah Hume Lee, woman's secretary of the Department of Social Relations of the Congregational Education Society, Boston; Wilson McClanghery Hume, Y. M. C. A. secretary, Lahore, India; Walter Fairban (sic) Hume, MD, of the Wadia Hospital, Wai, India; Henry Wood Hume, a business man of Albany, N Y, and Mrs Mary Hume Maguire, 104 Lakevlew av, Cambridge, wife of Prof John M. Maguire of the Harvard Law School.
A memorial service will be held tn the Congregational Church of Auburndale tomorrow at 3 p m, conducted by Rev Cornelius E. Clark, pastor. Rev Alden H. Clark, DD, of Newton, just home from Ahmednagar, India, Dr Hume's mission station; Dr Shepherd Knapp of Central Congregational Church, Worcester, of which Dr Hume was for many years the missionary, and Dr James L. Barton, secretary emeritus of the American Board, will contribute to this service. Dr Enoch F. Bell and Dr D. Brewer Eddy, both secretaries of the American Board, will sing old hymns loved by the Hume family.
