2107. George W.,10 son of 1395 Christopher Columbus9 and Charlotte [Pierce] Balch, was born at Granger, N. Y., December 20, 1846. He was married at Knight's Creek, N. Y., July 25, 1865, to Thresa Kent, who was born in Tioga county, N. Y., October 11, 1845. They have no children. He enlisted November 14, 1861, as a private in company I, 76th N. Y., and was in the Army of the Potomac. After the battle of Williamsburg, Va., he was sent to Mount Pleasant Hospital at Washington, from which he was discharged from the service in June, 1862, for general disability. He is a farmer at Harrisville, Michigan, and is an agent for agricultural machinery.

1395. Christopher Columbus,9 son of 698 Ebenezer8 and Lydia [Shepard] Balch, was born about 1821, and died in 1848. He was married to Charlotte Pierce in 1845. She was born in England, and died at Knight's Creek. Alleghany
county, N. Y., in February, 1873. Soon after his marriage he enlisted in the army and went to Mexico. He served through nearly the whole of the Mexican war, when he died. They had one son.
