Rites For Mrs. Durnell Held Tuesday
Former Bolivar Resident Died Saturday At Home Of Daughter In Newark, Ohio.
BOLIVAR-Funeral services for Mrs. Harriett Durnell. widow of James C. Durnell, were held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the M. E. church. The Rev. Arthur Partington, pastor, officiated. Interment was In Maple Cemetery.
The pall bearers were William E. McMurdy. Ernest S. Root. Patrick H. Dougherty and Wallace A. Smith.
Mrs. Dumell was a former Bolivar resident and had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Charles True in Newark. Ohio, for the past eight years. She been in ill health since April and passed away Saturday.
She was born September 9. 1853, at Eau Claire. Pa., the daughter of William and Mary Gibson, who were of pioneer Pennsylvania stock. Mrs. Durnell's grandfather served in the Revolutionary War.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Charles G. True of Newark, Ohio; one son, H. G. Durnell of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three granddaughters, Miss Marjory Davie, Mrs. Clara A. Ralph, Buffalo, and Mrs. R. E. Gounder, Newark, O. Another daughter. Mrs. F. E. Davie of Bolivar, passed away three years ago.
Mrs. Durnell, the last of a family of four, was a member of Bolivar M. E. Church and the Sunday School class of the M. E. Church in Newark, Ohio.
Among those attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. C. G. True, Newark. O.; Miss Marjory Davie, Mr. and Mrs. Clark A. Ralph, Buffalo; Mrs. Minnie Chappell, Mrs. John Patten, Steubenville, Ohio; Mrs. George Wilson, Crafton, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Duffield and Joseph Duffield of Bradford, Pa.

Mrs. Durnell Dies; Rites Incomplete
Mrs. Jessie E. Durnell, 83, of 710 S. Dewey, died at 10:17 p.m. Sunday ni (sic) the Jane Phillips Geriatrics home following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Durnell, a longtime music teacher here, was born Nov. 9, 1876 near Meadville, Pa., where she received her education. Following her marriage to Harold G. Durnell, they came to Indian Territory and settled in Bartlesville. She opened a music studio and taught until she was forced to retire in 1958 due to illness.
She was a member of the First 'Church of Christ Science, charter member of the Musical Research Society; charter member of the 'Accredited Music Teachers Association; member of the National Teachers Association and of the Guymaier Teachers Association. She is also a former member of the White Shrine and Eastern Star Chapter 142.
Mrs. Durnell studied in Chicago at the American Conservatory of Music and attended the master classes of Louise Robyn in Chicago. Mr. Durnell, who had been president of the Union Machine Co., died Feb 8, 1955.
Survivors include one aunt, Mrs. Carlotta Ellis, of Meadville.
Friends who wish may make their visitation at the Keeley-Neekamp Funeral home, as the casket will remain closed for the services, which will be announced.
