Ontario, Canada
Death
23 Apr 1913 (aged 72)
Macon County, Missouri, USA
Burial

Plainview, Macon County, Missouri, USA
Thomas J. Taylor was born on Amherst Island of Ontario, Canada, the son of Robert Taylor. His mother was unidentified on his death certificate.
Thomas came to Macon County, Missouri, prior to the late 1860s.
On May 8, 1868, in Macon County, Missouri, he married Jane M. Minton who was born in England but was also from Canada. (Census records show she was born in England and their marriage record shows she was from Canada.) They were married by John D. Vincil, Minister of the Gospel.
They are shown in the June 20, 1870 census of Independence Township of Macon County, Missouri, as a farm couple, ages 28 and 24 with no children. However, they were expecting their first child at this time because the next month their son Louis S. Taylor, was born on 14 July 1870. Sadly, the child died 2 months later on 30 Sept 1870. Jane died the next year on 10 April 1871. Both are buried at Hopewell Cemetery, Macon County, Missouri, near the east end and have one headstone with both of their names.
Thomas J. Taylor then married Elizabeth/Eliza Ann Mathis, born 12 Jul 1842, daughter of James and Nancy (Cross) Mathis. They had one son, Albert Mathis Taylor, born about 1872.
After Eliza died, Thomas married widow Harriet E. (Sackett) Draper.
Thomas died of "valvular disease of the heart" on April 23, 1913, Missouri Death Certificate 13761, and was buried at Steele Cemetery.
