Virginia R "Ginny" Sackett, nee Rapley, 85, born in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010m at Maryville Manor in Maryville, Ill.
Ms. Sackett resided in Fairview Heights, Ill., for more than 50 years. She was a homemaker and retired from St. Clair County in 1993, after 19 years of service. After retirement she enjoyed traveling, was a huge baseball fan, and loved an occasional trip to the casino. She also lived in Weatherford, Texas for 3-1/2 years where she met many new friends, enjoyed the rodeo, music and dancing, and had passion for horses. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Church in Collinsville, Ill., and also attended First United Methodist Church in Weatherford, Texas.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ella, nee Matt, Rapley; brother, Harry Rapley and sister-in-law, Lydia; sister, Ellen and brother-in-law, Clarence Bumb; brother, Juba Rapley, and sister-in-law, Helen; brother, George Rapley; and brothers-in-law, Wilbur Wood and Harvey Trost.
Surviving are her sisters June Wood and Lucille Trost, both of St. Louis, Mo.; sister-in-law, Virginia Rapley of St Louis, Mo.; her chi1dren, Jeff (Nancy) Sackett of Pensacola, Fla., Janet (Roger) Mattea of Maryville, Ill., Joan Sickler of Weatherford, Texas and Jon (Barb) Sackett of Edwardsville, Ill.; her grandchildren, Janan (Jon) Hayden, Jodi, Vincent, and Brie Sackett, Justin and Julia Mattea, Josh (Nichole) Sickler, Jessica (David) Ledbetter, Eric (Emily) Sackett; her great-grandchildren, Travis, Jillian, and Nolan - Ledbetter, Skyler and Riley Sickler, Gabriel Sackett, and Elizabeth Sackett; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers at Maryville Manor and Sterling House of Weatherford for their dedication, kindness, and compassion.
