      Mrs. Anthony Gase Dies This Morning

      Mrs. Josephine Edna Gase, 59, wife of Anthony P. Gase, died early this morning at her home, 722 Walnut street, following an illness of four months of complications.
      Mrs. Gase was employed as an operator for the Citizens Telephone Co. until August of last year, when ill health forced her retirement.
      She was born in Decatur July 13, 1901, a daughter of Mathias and Mary C. Miller, and was married to Anthony P, Gase may 8, 1928.
      Mrs. Gase was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic church, the Rosary society and the Third Order of St. Francis.
      Surviving in addition to her husband are six daughters, Mrs. James (Barbara) Meyer of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Marjorie Stetler of Decatur, Mrs. Frank (Marilyn) Spieth of Orangevale, Calif. , Mrs. Herman (Jacquelyn) Kelsey of Monroe, Mrs. Eugene (Sandra) Butcher of Decatur, and Miss Janet Gase, at home; four sons, Patrick and Maurice Gase of Decatur, Vincent Gase of Orangevale, Calif., and Robert Gase, at home; 20 grandchildren; four brothers, Frank, Bernard and Edward Miller (her twin), all of Fort Wayne and Charles Miller of Decatur, and two sisters, Mrs. Theresa Lichtle of Mansfield, O., and Mrs. Ann Myers of Decatur. One child is deceased.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary?s Catholic church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Simeon Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. Friends may call at the Gillig & Doan funeral home after 10 a.m. Sunday until time of the services. The rosary will be recited by the Third Order of St. Francis at 7:30 p.m. Monday and by the Rosary society at 8 p.m.???. (can?t see date)

      ANTHONY P. GASE

      Anthony P. (Tony) Gase, 95, Decatur, died at 12:20 a.m. Monday in Woodcrest Nursing Center, his residence the past 18 months.
      He was born on Oct. 16, 1901 in Union Township, to Philbert E. and Elizabeth Spuller Gase. He married J. Edna Miller on May 8, 1928; she died on March 25, 1961. He married Celeste Magner, who died in the early 1970's. He then married Irene B. Louth-Garwood on July 14, 1976; she died on Feb. 17 1996. (sic)
      He was a self-employed auto mechanic and watchmaker who also worked at the former General Electric plant in Decatur for 10 years. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur and its Holy Name Society.
      Surviving are four sons, Patrick & Robert J. Gase, both of Decatur; Maurice Gase of Deming, New Mexico; and Vincent Gase, Manteca, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. James (Barbara) Meyer, Fort Wayne; Mrs. Frank (Marjorie) Sardella, Decatur; Mrs. Frank (Marilyn) Spieth (sic), Shingle Springs, Calif.; Mrs. Robert D. (Jacqueline) Miller, Willshire, Ohio; and Mrs. Robert E. (Sandra Sue) Butcher, rural Decatur; a stepdaughter, Lois Krick, Decatur; a stepson, Charles R. Garwood, Decatur; a brother, Raymond Gase, Palatka, Florida; two half-brothers, Ambrose and Richard Gase, both of Decatur; four half-sisters, Anna Fugit, Sweet Home, Oregon; Gertrude Welker, Fort Myers, Florida; and Sister Catherine Marie Gase (C.S.A.) and Mary Schnepp, both of Decatur; 31 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and two step great-great-grandchildren.
      Deceased are a son, Gerold Gase; a daughter, Janet M. Gase; three brothers, Clement, Edward and Irenaeus Gase; a stepsister, Virgilia Buerning (sic); a step brother, George Lang; two half-brothers, Eugene and Bernard Gase; and five grandchildren.
      A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur. Visiting hours are 1-8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, with a rosary service at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
      Preferred memorials are to the church for masses or to the St. Mary's Parish Improvement Fund.
