Verna R. Drowne
CHATHAM, N.Y. -- Mrs. Verna Ransford Drovme, 81, died Friday at the Highgate Manor Nursing Home in Troy after a long illness.
Born in Rayville, she was the daughter of Edmund and Enunajean Decker Ransford. Her husband was the late Robert C. Drovme.
Mrs. Drowne was a member of the Malden Bridge Methodist Church and the Gerst-Williams Post 1592, American Legion Auxiliary.
She leaves a son, Donald R. Drowne of Old Chatham; two daughters, Mrs. George Godfroy of Lebanon Springs and Miss Frances Drowne of East Greenbush; two brothers William E. Ransford of Brainard and George Ransford of Nassau; a sister, Mrs. Edith L Hurley of Brainard, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two other children, Lawrence R. and Mildred L. Drowne, are deceased.
The funeral will be tomorrow at 11 at the E.B. Gifford & Son Funeral Home, Route 295 in Chatham with the Rev. George L. Corsom, pastor of the Malden Bridge Methodist Church, officiating. Calling hours will be tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Old Chatham Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the memorial fund of the church. The Legion auxiliary will conduct a memorial service tonight at 8 at the funeral home.

Emmagene and Edmond were married in the Malden Bridge Methodist Church on September 4, 1894 according to written church records. This couple was the maternal great-grandparents of this writer's husband.
