John J. Rogers Died At His Home Friday
Was Lifelong Resident of Superior Community and Well Known Nuckolls County Farmer
John Jay Rogers, a lifelong resilient of the Superior community, passed away at his farm home northwest of Superior, Friday, Oct 18, at the age of G7 years, 9 months and 5 days.
Mr. Rogers was born in Jewell county, Kansas, near here, the son of Duane and Clarissa Rogers, on Jan. 13, 1890.
On Sept. 15, 1910 he was united in marriage to Alvira Stinson and nine children were born to this union.
Surviving are his wife, seven children, Mrs. Clarence (Ila) Wilton, Bud B. end Billie D.
of Superior, Mrs. Don (Rose) Fintel of Bostwick, Mrs. Raymond (Dixie) Klawitter, Rupert, Idnho, Val R. of Nampa, Idaho, and Donald L. of Hutchinson, Kan., also 21 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Pettis, Watonga, Okla., Mrs. Ella George, St. Helena, and Mrs. Lena McClung, Denver, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by son, La Verne in 1951, one daughter, Maxine in infancy and one granddaughter, his parents, three brothers, George, Rodney and Edgar, and one sister, Mrs.
George (Emma) Jantzen.
Funeral services were held at the Megrue Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Oct. 22, with Rev, Bryant Currier officiating, and interment was in Evergreen cemetery.
