Mrs. Ellen Keely Geyer
CASSOPOLIS -- Mrs. Ellen Keely Geyer, 76, of Rt. 5, Cassopolis, formerly of Edwardsburg, died at 1 p.m. Monday In Pawating Hospital in Niles after an extended illness. She was born Jan. 5, 1898, in Elkhart, and moved to Cassopolis from Edwardsburg eight years ago. In 1916, she was married to Ralph Keely, who died in 1966. In May, 1967, she married Ralph Geyer, who died in December, 1967. Surviving are a son, George Keely of Van Nuys, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Hoien and Mrs. Margaret Gleason, both of Cassopolis; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Geyer was a member of the Edwardsburg United Methodist Church, the Women's Society of Christian Service of the church, and the Women of the Moose, Elkhart.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Connelly Funeral Home, with Rev. Joseph Wood, pastor of the Cassopolis United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, South Bend. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CASSOPOLIS - Robert C. Gleason, 85, of Cassopolis, MI, died Wednesday in his home after an illness. He was born June 7, 1924 in Cassopolis, the son of the late Clare and Vesta (Cook) Gleason and lived his entire life in Cassopolis. Robert married Margaret A. Keeley on Jan. 1, 1946, in Cassopolis and she survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Cheryl "Cheri" Collins of Cassopolis; a son, Dennis (Julie) Gleason of Dowagiac; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Tiffany) Gleason of Las Vegas, NV, Shawna (Eric) West of Schoolcraft, MI, and Todd (Claire) Collins of Cassopolis; five great-grandchildren, Ryan Gleason, Nicholas Gleason, Alexandra West, Megan West and Gage Collins; a sister, Joan Squiers of Edwardsburg, MI; a brother, Dale Gleason of Cassopolis and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Gleason. Bob retired in 1987 as a rural carrier for the Cassopolis Post office after 33 years of service and also was a lifetime farmer. Bob was also a retied sexton with the Reames & Norton Cemetery, Cassopolis. He was a former Cass County Fair Board member retiring in 1993, was a former Grand Marshall of the Cass County Fair in 1999, he was elected as a Citizen of the Year for Cassopolis in 1997, was a key leader with the Calvin 4-H Club, was a member of the former Backus Lodge $55, F & A.M., was a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge, Elkhart, IN, and a member of The Cass County Campers. A funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday in the Pleasant View Church of Christ, Cassopolis where he was a member. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Settle, retired pastor. Interment will be at Reames and Norten Cemteery, Cassopolis. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials made to the Pleasant View Church of Christ or the Cass County Fair Association.

CASSOPOLIS - Margaret A. Gleason, 82, of Cassopolis, MI, died Friday, January 22, 2010 in the Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis, after an extended illness. She was born February 21, 1927, in Elkhart, IN, the daughter of the late Ralph and Ellen (Niver) Keely and was a lifetime area resident. She married Robert C. Gleason on January 1, 1946, in Cassopolis and he preceded her in death on August 19, 2009. Margaret is survived by a daughter, Cheryl "Cheri" Collins of Cassopolis; a son, Dennis (Julie) Gleason of Dowagiac; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Tiffany) Gleason of Las Vegas, NV, Shawna (Eric) West of Schoolcraft, MI, and Todd (Claire) Collins of Cassopolis; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan Gleason, Nicholas Gleason, Alexandra West, Megan West and Gage Collins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Holen and brother, George Keely. Margaret was a homemaker and also had worked as an accountant with Fruit Belt Electric in Cassopolis, and with the Lewis Cass ISD in Cassopolis. She was a member of the Pleasant View Church of Christ, Cassopolis, a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge, and was a member of the Cass County Campers. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant View Church of Christ, Cassopolis. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Settle, retired Pastor of the church. Interment will be in Reames & Norton Cemetery, Cassopolis. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis.
