Baleh was born September 16, 1787, in the town of Westford, Vermont. He died in Alleghany Co., N. Y. aged 62 years. When he was four years of age, his father moved into the town of Enosburg, Vermont. About 1813 he married Lydia, daughter of Silas Shepard of Northern Vermont. She died in Meigs Co., Ohio, at the age of about 88 years. They were members of the M. E. church and lived in Alleghany Co., N. Y. Family tradition says that he was a volunteer in the battle of Plattsburgh. They had ten children.
