Former Grants Pass resident Malinda F. Payne, 96, of Eugene died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Lundberg's L.B. Hall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Wood of Redwood Christian Church officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Payne was born May 30, 1904, in Grants Pass. In 1927, in Washington, she married Charles S. Payne, who died in 1971. During World War II she worked at Oregon shipyards. She also worked as a seamstress and a bookkeeper.
She was a member of the Friendly Street Church of God in Eugene.
She enjoyed making quilts, gardening, wildflowers, being outdoors, nature walks, traveling and being with her family.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Payne Jr. of Modesto, Calif., Sydney Payne of Phoenix, Ariz., and William Payne of Medford; two sisters, Myrtle Neeley and Bertha Lowd, both of Grants Pass; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
