  Ted Smith Notes: Thurmon King originally entered Harriet Sackett's husband as Elijah Thompson Crider, based on the following: "However, we have Thomas' [Sackett] biography as told in the Henry Co., Iowa Biographical Sketches from around 1900: Thomas Sackett was a native of Pennsylvania, born in 1789. Thomas & Catherine Chambers had these children: Dorcas (m. Levi Batterton, Menard Co., IL); John (m. Rhoda Hart of Green Co., KY); Samuel, a farmer of Macon Co., MO; Phoebe, (m. Milas Goodwin, farmer of Coos Co., OR); Mary, (m. Rev. AC Gaines, Douglas Co., NE); Harriet (m. Thompson Crider). In April 2023, Alvin Oglesby found a marriage record for Harriet Sackett marrying Elijah T Grider in 1845 in Sangamon County, Illinois. This was confirmed by similar records in other databases in Ancestry.com. That led to an 1850 Census record for Thompson and Harriet Grider, with their daughter Mary J., age 1. We also have a December 1856 marriage for Elijah Grider: Illinois, U.S., Compiled Marriages, 1851-1900 Name Elijah T Grider Gender Male Spouse Name Martha J Bradley Marriage Date 11 Dec 1856 Marriage County Sangamon The above suggests that Harriet Sackett had died by late 1856, and the 1860 census finds Elijah and Martha (indexed as Crider) living with four children, one of whom "G" was b. c1856. Whether "G" (George) was the child of Harriet Sackett or Martha Bradley is not yet known, but if his age (4) is correct in the census, and if Martha did not marry Elijah until December 1856, then it seems likely that Harriet Sackett was his mother, meaning she probably died in 1856.

SACKETT, THOMAS, was brought up near Hamilton, Butler county, Ohio, and was there married to Peggy Martin. They had six children in Ohio, and moved to Sangamon county, near Sangamo, previous to 1830. Of their children— DORCAS, born in Ohio, married in Sangamon county to Levi Batterton. See his name. PHEBE married Miles Goodman, and moved first to Iowa, and then to Oregon. MARY married A. Clay Gaines. See his name. HARRIET married Thompson Crider, and died. JOHN, married and moved to Missouri. SAMUEL married Cyrena Goodman, and moved to Missouri. Mrs. Peggy Sackett died, and Thomas Sackett was twice married. After the death of his third wife he moved to Missouri with his sons and died there.
