Sherman Gleason, the father, was a Veteran of the War of 1812, and was stationed in Plattsburg; also in Sacketts Harbor and Fort Mills, now Fort Covingon, N.Y.
In Apr 1828 he removed from Benson, Vt., to Malone, N.Y., where he cleared and improved the farm on which some of descendants still live.
