BARNETT, WILLIAM ALVA?W. A. Barnett, retired Geneva photographer, passed away unexpectedly at Lincoln General hospital Tuesday, February 23, 1960, aged 82 years 4 months and 23 days. He had entered the hospital the day before for treatment of influenza. He had previously been in good health.
William Alva Barnett, son of Elizabeth Coder Barnett and Henry Barnett, was born September 30, 1877, at Belle Plaine, Ia. He was one of nine children.
When he was about six years old the family moved to Page, Neb., where he spent the next 15 years. In 1906 he went to Lemmon, S. D. and filed on a homestead. In 1917 he moved to Lincoln, where he established a photographic studio.
February 16, 1923, he and Belle Kester, both of Lincoln, Neb., were united in marriage. To this union were born two children Doris Loree, Mrs. Elmer Smith of Maitland, Mo., and Ronald Keith of Geneva.
?Bill,? as he was known to his friends, came to Geneva from Crete and established the Geneva Photo Co. about 20 years ago. He conducted the business 14 years, then retired and turned the business over to his son Ronald. He was a third degree member of the Od Fellow lodge and was also a member of the Rebekah lodge.
His talents were many and he was always ready to give his time and energy when needed. He was a good husband and a loving father. He will be greatly missed by all.
He left in passing his wife, Belle, daughter Doris and son Ronald, four grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home February 26, Rev. Alden B. Sears officiated. Mrs. H. A. Rosenau sang ?In the Garden? and ?The Lord?s Prayer?. Mrs. Willard Foster was accompanist. Pallbearers were Orval M. Ellison, Ronald Elznic, Theodore Petersen, Charles Pittard, Herbert Nichols and A. E. Holmes. The Geneva Odd Fellow lodge was in charge of services at the Grave. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
Odd Fellows, Rebekah?s and O. T. O. club members attended in a body.
