      He graduated from Downey High School in May 1936 and attended the University of Utah for two years, followed by a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

      Mr. Thomas enlisted in U.S. Naval Air Corps in August 1942 and was discharged in February 1946.

      He retired as a dispatch engineer in May 1981 after 22 years at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant operated by Union Carbide Nuclear Division
