Ferne L. (Atwood) Ripley
TALLMADGE -- Ferne L. (Atwood) Ripley, 93, passed away April 4, 1988 at her residence.
Mrs. Ripley was a life resident of Tallmadge. She was a descendant of 2 early Tallmadge families (Atwood and Sackett). She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, helped organize and was a charter member of the Tallmadge Home and Garden Club, and was a member of the Country Study Club and the Tallmadge Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by husband, Elton; and daughter, Gertrude. She is survived by daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Lythgoe of Tallmadge, Mrs. Majorie Carlson of Brimfield and Mrs. Marilyn Hood of Millersburg; sons, Richard Ripley of Portland, Robert E. Ripley of Tallmadge, Wilbur Ripley of Rootstown, Lowell Ripley of Columbus and Lucius Ripley of Tallmadge; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hillegas Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge, with Rev. Donald Powers officiating. Interment Tallmadge (Old Section) Cemetery. It was her request that there be no viewing or visitation. The family requests memorials be given to the Akron Children's Hospital Burns Unit, 281 Locust Akron 44308.
