Dorothy M. Dewey 1928-2008
WESTFIELD - Dorothy M. Dewey, 80, died Saturday September 20, 2008 in a local nursing home. She was born in Springfield on November 24, 1928 to the late Charles and Mary (Austin) Barber. Dorothy grew up in Westfield, attended local schools, and was a 1947 graduate of Westfield High School. Dorothy was a former member of the Jayceettes, was active in local youth programs and was a member of the Central Baptist Church. She leaves her husband of 60 years Richard D. Dewey Sr., her children Richard D. Dewey Jr. of Holyoke, Carolyn Dewey of Kenya, Deborah Steben and Sharon Scavotto both of Westfield, her sister Shirley Barnes of Westfield, her grandchildren Eric, Scott, Lana, Dean, Anne, Samantha, Adam, Nick and Beth. Dorothy also leaves six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Dorothy will be held on Saturday October 4th at 10:00 am in the Westfield Evangelical Free Church, 568 Southwick Road Westfield, MA 01085. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472. Firtionadams.com
