      Leroy Spotted Eagle, age 61, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born January 30, 1950 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Raymond and Belinda Lopez Anderson. On February 9, 1971 he married Lucy Ibanez in Las Vegas. Leroy grew up in Las Vegas, graduating from Rancho High School. He served in the US Marine Corps during Vietnam, then moved back to Las Vegas. He raised his family as part of the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe, with the Moapa Paiute Tribe and later in Snow Mountain in the foothills of Mt. Charleston. He worked for 25 years with the Centel Telephone Company. He later worked as a Federal Police Officer. He enjoyed coaching youth football, and helped to start the Warrior Football Program in the Moapa Valley. He was a respected spiritual leader for the Paiute Nation. He loved going to Pow Wow, the Traditional Indian Dances and old ways. Survivors include his wife, Lucy of Las Vegas; two sons, Chris of Las Vegas; Lance (Jamie) of Moapa, NV; five grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: LaMar (Claudina) Anderson of Kaibab, AZ; Gregory (Shannon) Anderson of St. George, UT and Linda Linero of Las Vegas, NV. Visitation will be Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 3 - 5 p.m. at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., Las Vegas, NV. Funeral services will be Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. at the Moapa LDS Chapel. A Traditional Indian Sing will follow the funeral services at the Moapa Indian Tribal Building with interment at sunrise in the Moapa Indian Cemetery.       Raymond Anderson, 64, died Saturday in Overton. He was a resident of Moapa and Las Vegas.

      He was born Dec. 6, 1920 in Moapa and was a veteran of the U.S. marines and served during World War II.

      He is survived by his brothers, Philbert Swain of Cedar City, Utah, and Kenneth D. Anderson of Las Vegas; sisters, Flora Beth Simmons, Everline Begay and Maurice Frank, all of Moapa, and Sharon Garcia of Albuquerque, N.M.; children Leroy, LaMar and Gregory, all of Moapa, Linda Rae of Las Vegas, and Patricia Maureen of Carson City; and seven grandchildren.

      Lucy Spotted Eagle, 67, passed away on September 11, 2021 in Las Vegas, NV. She was born on May 11, 1954 in Texas to Martin Ibanez and Paula Villareal. She married Leroy Spotted Eagle on February 9, 1971 in Las Vegas, NV.

      Lucy loved her grandchildren and was their biggest supporter, often attending their sports games and other interests. She assisted her husband in coaching football and cheerleading for many years. She also loved passing on the traditions of her culture, and taking her family to PowWows and the Native American Church. She was very talented and loved doing beadwork. She was involved in working with the Southern Paiute Veteran?s Association. She was known for her positive attitude and was ?real as heck?.

      Lucy is survived by her son: Chris Spotted Eagle and Lance (Jamie) Anderson; grandchildren: Breanna, Sidnee, Jerzi, Tobyas, Tyelar, Stowick, and Lennox; great-grandson, Kaias; sisters: Diane Hovietz, Maria Mason, and Melba Anderson; brother-in-laws: Lamar Anderson and Greg Anderson; sister-in-law, Linda Linero, and a large extended family.

      Viewing and funeral services were held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Moapa Band of Paiutes Tribal Center, and a Traditional Sing followed at sundown. Interment followed at sunrise at the Moapa Tribal Cemetery.
