Volney A. Richardson Dies; Noted Landscape Artist
A nationally known landscape and flower artist for 30 years, Volney A. Richardson, 67, died last month at his home in Brooklyn, relatives were informed Friday. A native of Attica, Mr. Richardson studied at the Albright Art School after coming to Buffalo in 1913.
He then studied in New York and won the New York Art Students' League scholarship. After 11 years in New York, he found the Osborne School of Art in Atlanta, Ga., and conducted classes in Delaware Park for several years. About 10 years ago he moved to Houston, Tex., and later to Los Angeles.
Mr. Richardson married one of his former Atlanta pupils, Beaulah Hahn (sic), last May and lived in Brooklyn until his death. His survivors include Franklin Jefferson, Mrs. Edith Prescott and Mrs. Lee Lewellun of Buffalo.
