Obituary from The Greeley (Greeley NE) Dec. 26, 1918
Mrs. John V Gleason is Dead after Long Illness
She had suffered from a complication of Diseases and had been ill for over a year.
Mrs. John V. Gleason died at the family home in the south part of town last night at 6 o'clock. Her death was due to a complication of diseases. She had been ailing for more than a year, but had been confined to her bed since early last Thursday. It is believed that a slight attack of the flu may have aggravated other ailments.
The funeral services will be held at the home tomorrow morning. Rev. T. A. Hall of the Methodist church will have charge of the service. The body will be taken tomorrow for burial at Utica where a little daughter was buried some years ago.
Mrs. Gleason was a native of Illinois. She married at Gresham, Nebr. in 1890. Two years later the family moved to McCool and from there to Greeley five years ago. Besides her husband Mrs. Gleason is survived by four sons. They are Byron Gleason of McCook, Samuel of Belfast, Mark who is serving his country as a soldier in France, and John Cecil at home. Had Mrs. Gleason lived until January 4, next, she would have been 45 years old. She was a woman of many noble traits and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her.
Mary is buried in the Gleason family plot near her husband John and their baby daughter, there is no headstone.
