      CIVIL WAR VET ANSWERS TAPS Frank D. Smith, Age 89, Succumbs to Old Age at Son's Home in Coeur d'Alene.

      COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho, Nov. 13.--Frank D. Smith, 89, Civil war veteran and resident of Coeur d'Alene for 13 years, died at the home of his son, Harvey D. Smith, 1802 Seventh street, this morning. He had been failing for some time, owing to old age. Born in Pennsylvania, Mr. Smith later removed to Wisconsin and when the war came, enlisted In the Second Wisconsin cavalry, serving through the conflict. He is survived by two sons, Harvey D. of Coeur d'Alene and Frank of Turner Bar; a daughter, Mrs. S. W. Higby of Taft, Cal. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a. m.
