Ernest Eatherton Rites Scheduled On Tuesday
STURGIS -- Funeral services for Ernest Eatherton will be conducted Tuesday, 2 p.m. in the F. O. Jolley Funeral Home by the Rev. Dr. Harold Wagar of First Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Whitewood Cemetery.
Eatherton died Saturday morning in a Rapid City hospital.
He was born Sept. 19, 1907 in Marble City: Colo., a son of Harry and Fannie Eatherton. The family lived in Whitewood for many years.
He married Elsie Shoening, Oct. 27, 1933, in Lemmon. They farmed in the Whitewood-Sturgis area for several years. From 1947 until 1959 they operated Black Hills Auto Salvage at Deadwood.
They then moved to Quinn and he operated an auto salvage and blacksmith shop.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, Joel of Merriman, Neb., and Richard, Quinn; three daughters, Mrs. Donald Sechler, Buena Park, Calif., Mrs. Edwin Beck, Grand Forks, N. D., and Mrs. Gary Phelps, Kokomo, Ind.; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Morris Eatherton, Culver City, Calif., Everett Eatherton of Aconda, Mont., and John Eatherton, New Underwood, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Beshara, Deadwood, and Mrs. Harold Thomas, Piedmont.
