      On December 19, 2003, Marvin Scott Wright passed peacefully from this life into the next. He was born December 29, 1909 in Lincoln, Idaho, son of Julia E. Luby and Scott B.

      Wright.

      He married Merle Sackett on March 21, 1952 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, and they made their home in Brigham City.

      Marvin served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints: the first in New Zealand, and later with his wife in Billings, Montana on the Crow Indian Reservation. He was a temple worker in the Ogden Temple and also served as bishop in the Brigham City 5th Ward.

      Marvin enjoyed gardening, fishing, and church service.

      He is survived by his wife, Merle, five children; Susan Wright, Becky Budge, Julie Smith, Sheila Benson, and Garth (Herk) Wright; a brother, Lawrence Wright; a sister, Virginia Singleton; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

      There will be a viewing Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City and on Monday, from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at Brigham City Central Ward. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 22, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Ward Chapel, 506 South 200 East, Brigham City.

      Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.

      Brigham Lady Succumbs Wednesday

      Mrs. Mary Arminta Harper Sackett. ape 68, wife of F. M. Sackett, died Wednesday at 10 a. m., at her residence, 21 South Third East, following an extended illness.

      Mrs. Sackett was born Jan. 21, 1R92. at Honeyville, a daughter of George and Martha Hunsaker Harper. She was reared and educated in Box Elder county and attended Brigham Young Academy at Logan.

      She was married to E. M. Sackett on Feb. 14, 1914, in Ogden. They later received their endowments in the Logan LDS temple.

      She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served in the Primary, Relief Society and YWMIA organizations. She was a former member of the Kindergarten club.

      Survivors include her husband, and four daughters: Mrs. J. Lanell (Rula) Foote and Mrs. Marvin (Merle) Wright, both of Brigham City; Mrs. Bert (Madge) Alvey, Ogden; Mrs. Jack (Margie) Tebbs, Los Angeles, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters: Lester Harper, Paul, Idaho; Kenneth Harper and Mrs. Venna Jensen, both of San Francisco; Mrs. Elsie Chlarson and Mrs. Alda Pixton, both of Salt Lake City; and Mrs. Estelle Barton, Los Angeles.

      Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p. m. in the Brigham City First LDS ward chapel with Bishop Carlyle Jensen officiating. Friends may call at the Harold B. Felt Funeral Home Friday from 7 to 9 p. m. and Saturday prior to time of services.

      Interment will be in the Brigham City cemetery.

      Local Man Succumbs Friday Eve

      Esstress Manley Sackett, 83, of 21 South Third East, died Friday evening at the Cooley hospital after a long illness.

      Born Oct. 15, 1884 at Brigham City, he was a son of Samuel Arthur and Mary Petersen Sackett.

      He married Mary Arminta Harper on Feb. 10, 1914 in Ogden. They later received their endowments in the Logan LDS temple. She died June 22, 19G0, He married Lottie Grey on Oct. 3, 1961 in the Logan LDS Temple.

      HE WAS A lifelong resident of Brigham City. He was a building contractor and carpenter in Brigham City for many years. He worked for the Brigham City Police Department and as the Brigham City building inspector for many years.

      He was a high priest in the Brigham City First LDS ward at the time of his death, and had served in the high priest group presidency for many years. He was a former Sunday school teacher and home teacher. He had served a Box Elder stake tabernacle mission.

      Active in Boy Scout activities throughout his life, he was one of the first Boy Scout commissioners in the Brigham City area.

      SURVIVING ARE his widow, Brigham City; four daughters, Mrs. J. LaNell (Rula) Foote, Mrs. Marvin (Merle) Wright, both of Brigham City; Mrs. Bert (Madge) Alvey, Ogden; Mrs. William Jack (Marjie) Tebbs, Los Angeles, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; the following brothers and sisters; Oral Don Sackett, Mrs. Julia Jones, both of Orem; Golden Noble Sackett, Santa Paula, Calif.; Ervin A. Sackett, Heber City; the foilowlng half-brothers and sisters: Orval B. Sackett, William C. Sackett, Mrs. Henry O. (Ella) Johnson, Mrs. Laura Gilbert, all of Brigham City; Mrs. Ernest (Maude) Lehnherr, Mrs. Theron G. (Ruby) Oakley, both of Salt Lake City.

      Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Brigham City First LDS ward chapel. Friends may call at the Petersen Funeral Chapel Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday j prior to services. Burial will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
