King William6 Lamson (Mitchell,5 Nathaniel,4 William,3 Joseph,2 William1), was born at Woodbury, Conn., and died at Berwick, Pa. He married Sarah Clark, daughter of Sherman Clark, of Washington, D. C, before 1808.
King William Lamson spent the early part of his life in Woodbury, Conn. About 1800 he removed to Waterbury, Conn., where he became a prominent citizen. He changed his name to William King Lamson, perhaps because in the other form it had a
formidable sound to Republican ears. He was the second Postmaster in Waterbury, being appointed in 1813. In 1815 he resigned temporarily in order to represent the town in the State Legislature. He was reappointed Jan. 11, 1816, and served until Aug. 7, 1819. For a while he was in business with his brother-in-law, James Scovill. About 1820 he removed to Berwick, Pa., and became a merchant there.
