Golden Anniversary For The Charles Gosarts Sr.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gosart Sr. of 94 Kirkemdatl Road, Shavertown, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday. The couple will welcome friends and relatives that afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Shavertown, from 2 to 4 p.m. No invitations have been issued.
Mr. and Mrs. Gosart were married in 1916 by Rev. William MacAlpine, pastor of Parrish Street Methodist Church. Mrs. Gosart is the former Pearl Schaffer (sic) of Wilkes-Barre and her husband is also a former Wilkes-Barre native.
The Gosarts moved to Shavertown in 1924 and ten years later went into the grocery store business. They retired from business in 1946 turning the business over to their two sons, Charles Jr. and Walter.
Mr. Gosart, who was a plumber by trade, enjoys fishing. He is a member of George M. Dallas Lodge, Bloomsburg Consistory and the Shrine. He is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Gosart is a member of Dallas Chapter OES, and sings with its Choral Group, Shrine Auxiliary, WSCS and Keller Class of Shavertown Methodist Church and heads the Cancer Dressings Group in the Back Mountain.
They have two sons, Charles Jr., owner of the Sweet Valley Golf Course and Walter, owner of the Economy Grocery Store in Shavertown. There are four grandchildren: Beverly Gosart Gerrity, Walter, Jim and Alan Gosart, one great - grandchild, John Gerrity.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gosart Jr. of Sweet Valley and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gosart of Shavertown, will be hosts and hostesses for their parents' reception.
Mr. Gosart will also celebrate his 71st birthday on the same day.
