Carpenter Is Death Victim
Robert Hollingshead Is Stricken Fatally
Robert D. Hollingshead, 65, of 38 Waller Street, was pronounced dead on admission yesterday afternoon at 5:05 at Mercy Hospital. He was stricken with a heart seizure at his home at 4:45 and Dr. P. F. McHugh, family physician, was summoned. He was removed to the hospital in the city ambulance on the doctor's advice.
Mr. Hollingshead, a well known local carpenter, worked a regular shift yesterday in Exeter on construction of the new St. Anthony's Church.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre, December 28, 1897, a son of the late John Wesley and Cora Artman Hoiilngshead, and was graduated from Wilkes-Barre schools. He was a lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre.
Mr. Hollingshead, a veteran of World War 1, served with U. S. Army Ground Forces in France. He was engaged in carpentry trade in Wyoming Valley more than 40 years. Most of that time he was associated with Pethick Construction Company and Rex Craft Corporation.
He was a member of Parrish Street Methodist Church and presently was serving as a trustee on its official board and also as an usher. Mr. Hollingshead also was a member of Fidelity Lodge 655, F&AM of Wilkes-Barre; Caldwell Consistory of Bloomsburg, Irem Temple, Legion of Honor, American Legion Post 132, Veterans of Foreign Wars Anthracite Post 283 of Kingston: Local Carpenters Union 514, District Council of United Brotherhood of Carpenters. He also belonged to Retired Regional Mens' (sic) Association, Central YMCA.
Surviving are his wife, the former Clara Schaffer; a brother, Arthur H. of Catawissa; sister, Arlene Hollingshead, Wilkes-Barre.
Funeral will be held from the Kniffen Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street, Monday morning at 11.- Rev. Robert V. Graham, Parrish Street Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment in Hanover Green Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. Local Carpenters Union 514 will conduct Memorial services Sunday night at 7:30 and Lodge 655 will conduct Masonic services Sunday night at 8.
