Born in June of 1923, he was to be known as a hard working lad during the depression years on his family farm in Maine. He served in the US Navy in WW II serving on the USS Texas, among other warships of that era. He was an EM2 (Electricans Mate 2nd class)who was also known by the nickname "Doc".
Shortly after the war, he went to textile college in Philadelphia, and was married to Ruth Ann Moran. Together, they had 2 sons, Redmond, jr., and Robert. Ruth preceeded him in death in 1965. He remarried twice more, but died a widower. He died during surgery at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, and he was cremated. Ashes were strown to sea.
