OBITUARY. Mrs. Rachel Perry Pyle was born in St. Claire county, Michigan November 30, 1850. At the time of her death, October 11, 1918, she was 67 years 10 months and 11 days old. She was united in marriage to Samuel W, Pyle on March 10, 1872. To this union nine children were born, six daughters and three sons Mrs. Annie Claunch, Marshall, Ok., Mrs. Olive Wright, who departed this life November 17, 1901, Mrs. Emma McGuire, Mrs. Stella Wortman, William A. Pyle, Karl H. Pyle, Mrs. Mary Acrldge, Benjamin T. Pyle and Mrs. Lula Sackett, all of whom reside in Fort Scott.
Mrs. Rachel Pyle lived to know in her family 28 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, whose mother was the only child of Mrs. Olive Wright; now deceased. Besides these she leaves many relatives and a host of friends to mourn her loss.
Mr. and Mrs. Pyle were married in Crawford county, Kas., living there until the summer of 1877, when they moved to Washington. After spending eight years on the coast they returned again to Fort Scott on December 10, 1884, bought a farm southwest of the city, on which they resided until January 24, 1900. They then went to Oklahoma, returning again to Fort Scott on January 1, 1906, and have resided here since that time. "Grandma" Pyle, as she was always known, was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother and grandmother, always patient and enduring, self sacrificing for the comforts and pleasure of those around her. She bore her pains and suffering With all patience until she fell asleep In Jesus.
