This article indicates that Mrs. Susan Benjamin is the oldest person in New Haven, having reached her 97th birthday in January 1882. "Her sight and hearing are gone, but she retains her other faculties to a remarkable degree and seems to be in perfect health. She is one of the Burwells, from whom Burwell's farms in Milford are named . . . ."
