Bobby Schipper, 74, Crookston, died Monday, April 22, 2002, in Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home, Crookston.
Bobby Jack Schipper was born June 12, 1927, the son of Jack and Marie (Lubitz) Schipper, in Crookston. He attended school in Parnell and Euclid Townships, Minn. He later attended police school in Anoka, Minn. He worked for Heldstab Ice and Fuel in Crookston. He married Arlene Johnson on Aug. 13, 1950, in Mentor, Minn. In 1954, they moved to Red Lake Falls, Minn., where he owned and operated Falls Motors. He later became a salesman for Salem Motors, Crookston. They lived in Fertile, Minn., for a few years before re turning to Crookston in 1965. In 1972, he began working as a deputy for the Polk County Sheriff s Department, eventually assuming duties as chief deputy. He retired in 1991.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Bryan (Roberta), Radcliff, Ky., and Bruce, Crookston; daughters, Diane Schnedler, Minneapolis, Danelle (Robert) Reetz, Rockford, Minn., and DeLynn (Paul) Hegre Jr., St. Paul; five grandchildren; and sisters, Angela Beattie and Jacqueline (Alden) Burke, both of Crookston, Dorothy Demarais, Grand Forks, and Ethel (Willis) Sondreal, Reynolds, N.D.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy; and a sister, Audrey Delude.
Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, St. Paul s Lutheran Church, Crookston.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Fri day, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Maple Lake Lutheran Cemetery, Mentor.
Military rites: Euclid American Legion Post 539 and the Crookston Veterans Council.
