      Obituary

      Christena Steiner 96 of Farmland IN, passed away while in the company of family members on Monday Sept. 17th, 2012 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital Muncie IN.

      Christena was born in Randolph County on October 16th, 1915 to Alva Raymond and Bertha Mae Pegg. Christena was a graduate of Lincoln High School, and in 1932 married Emmett L. Steiner who precedes her. Christena was well known for the draperies she custom designed and created. For many years, she worked along side her loving husband at Steiner Upholstery. She was a member of the Farmland Congregational Christian Church, The Eastern Star, The local Campers Club, and Card Club. Christena loved people and enjoyed going to the Lakes with her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

      Christena will be sadly missed by her daughter Beverly, family and all who knew her. Christena is survived by her daughter Beverly J. Bowen of Farmland IN, a son in law Ralph Newton of Farmland, a sister Maeodine Lawrence of Winchester IN, (4) Grandchildren Krista J. (husband Thomas) Sewell of Parker City IN, Linda K. (husband Timothy) Nelson of Huntington Beach CA, Russell E. Newton (wife Teena) of Farmland IN, R. Randall Newton (wife Laurie) of Farmland IN, (6) Great-Grandchildren, and (2) Great-Great-Grandchildren. Christena was preceded in death by her parents Alva Raymond and Bertha Mae (Coulter) Pegg, Her loving husband Emmett L. Steiner, a daughter Patricia S. Newton and a brother Charles L. Pegg.

      Calling Hours will be Friday Sept. 21st, 2012 from 4-7pm at MJS Mortuaries in Farmland IN, with the Eastern Star conducting services at 7pm. Funeral Services will be Saturday Sept. 22nd, 2012 at 11:00 am with one hour of calling prior to the service at The Farmland Congregational Christian Church, Farmland IN. Burial will follow in Buena Vista Cemetery Farmland IN. Memorials may be sent to The Farmland Congregational Christian Church Window Preservation. Funeral services have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries Farmland IN.

      FARMLAND -- Beverly J. Bowen, 83, of Huntington Beach, CA., formerly of Farmland, IN., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 3rd, 2017 at Hoag Hospital, in Newport Beach, CA.

      Beverly was born in Randolph County, on December 21, 1933 a daughter of the late Christena (Pegg) and Emmett Steiner.

      She was a 1951 graduate of Farmland High School as well as a 1952 graduate of Indiana Business College.

      Beverly was employed by the Randolph County Hospital as a respiratory therapist.

      She was a diligent women and amazing seamstress who chose to live a life of outstanding moral character and to lead by example in all things. She was a member of the Farmland Christian Church and later in life attended the Windsor United Methodist Church with her grandchildren until its closing. Beverly loved her church and had her girls there every Sunday rain or shine. She enjoyed scrap booking, decorating for church dinners and banquets, gardening, watching Fox News, listening to gospel music, anything involving her beautiful grandchildren, and her favorite furry friends her cats. She was an active member of Psi Iota Xi sorority, serving a term as President of the local chapter.

      Beverly is survived by her two precious daughters; Krista J. Sewell (husband Tom) of Parker City, IN., Linda K. Nelson (husband Tim) of Huntington Beach CA., one brother-in-law Ralph Newton of Farmland, IN., two grandchildren; Reverend Kelly Sewell (wife Kelly) of Grabill, IN., Angela Patterson (husband Patrick) of Farmland, IN., and three great grandchildren; Kayla and Isaiah Patterson and Jovanna (Jovie) Sewell.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Patricia Sue Newton, and one great grandchild; Hezekiah (Kye) Sewell.

      Friends are invited to call Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at MJS Mortuaries - Farmland Chapel.

      Funeral services will be at 2 PM on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Farmland Christian Church with Reverend Kelley Sewell and Pastor Gary Taylor of?ciating.

      Burial will follow in Buena Vista Cemetery, Farmland, IN.

      Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries Farmland Chapel.

      Marries in Farmland

      Miss Krista Jean Bowen and Thomas Wayne Sewell were married during an evening ceremony May 7 at Farmland Congregational Christian Church.

      The bride was given in marriage by her grandfather, Emmett L. Steiner, Farmland. She is the daughter of Mrs. Beverly Haggard, Farmland, and Charles R. Bowen, Hartford City. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kelley Sewell, Selma.

      Miss Linda Kay Bowen was maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Miss Susan Munday, Parker City, and Mrs. Joe Cunningham, Farmland.

      Miss Melissa Sewell, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. Ring-bearers were Mike, Benji and Scott Martin, nephews of the bridegroom.

      Ronald Sewell, Muncie, was best man for his brother. Groomsmen were John Dickinson, Selma, and Ben Martin, brother-in-law of the bridegroom.

      The new Mrs. Sewell is a 1974 graduate of Monroe Central High School and is employed in the dietary department of Randolph County Hospital, Winchester.

      Mr. Sewell is a 1971 graduate of Wapahani High School and is employed at American Wire.
