      J. Ellen Rodgers, 86
      MUNCIE -- J. Ellen Rodgers, 86, of Muncie, was carried by the angels Into the arms of Jesus on July 20, 2002, at Ball Memorial Hospital.

      She was born May 20, 1916, in Muncie to John W. and Nancey Foster Bailey. Mrs. Rodgers attended Muncie schools. She was a homemaker, raising six children. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Phipps (husband: Gerstal), Muncie, and Carolyn Roark (husband: Jim), Selma; four sons, Jerry A. Rodgers (wife: Marilyn), Muncie; David E. Rodgers (wife: Sue), Muncie; Roy L. Rodgers (wife: Joan), Muncie, and Norman E. Rodgers (wife: Tammy), Albany; two brothers, Thurman Bailey, Rochester, and John Bailey (wife: Dorothy), Eaton; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bailey, Portland; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

      She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence H. Rodgers, on July 8, 1981; her parents; a brother, James Bailey; a sister, J Gladys Clevenger; and a grandson, Keith Phipps.

      Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Parson Mortuary with Rev. John Helton officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

      Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to charity of your choice.
