      Dr. Pottenger Services Set

      Funeral services for Dr. Robert T. Pottenger, 55, a physician in Pasadena for 32 years, will be conducted at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Little Stone Church of Turner & Stevens Mortuary in Alhambra.

      Dr. Pottenger died Tuesday at his home, 2101 Oak Knoll Ave., San Marino.

      He studied at Webb School in Claremont, Thatcher School in Ojai, Princeton University and Harvard Medical School.

      He leaves his widow, Helen; two sons, Robert and Dr. Ronald C. Pottenger; one daughter, Elaine P. Sands; his father, Dr. Francis M. Pottenger; one brother, Dr. Francis M. Pottenger, Jr.; and two sisters, Mrs. Adelaide Harville and Dr. Carol Fry.

      Deceased Was Former Club President

      Mrs. Adelaide Gertrude Hanson, teacher in the Monrovia High school from 1890 to 1900 and president of the Monrovia Woman's club in 1908, died yesterday at her temporary residence here. Up until two months ago, she had been living in Los Angeles.

      Mrs. Hanson, who was 67 years of age, was the wife of Christian H. Hanson and the mother of Dr. Robert Pottenger of San Marino, Mrs. R. P. Harville of Perris and Dr. F. M. Pottenger Jr. of Monrovia. There are 12 grandchildren.

      She is also survived by a brother, William A. Babbitt of South Bend, Ind., and a sister, Mrs. M. N. Baker of Upper Montclair, N. J.

      During her long residence in Monrovia, Mrs. Hanson was active in club and social life. It was in her home that Chapter M of the P. E. O. Sisterhood was founded. At the time of her death she was a member of the Friday Morning club of Los Angeles.

      Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Renaker chapel.

      Ronald Pottenger, 64, Utah Ronald Cornell Pottenger, 64, died of complications of multiple sclerosis Saturday, Feb. 24, 1996, in Bountiful, Utah. He was born in Pasadena, Calif., Sept. 11, 1931, to Robert T. and Helen C. (Powers) Pottenger.

      Surviving are two sons, Douglas Pottenger of Pascagoula, Miss., and Robert Pottenger; two daughters Mrs. Jim (Suzanne) Levanger of Farmington, Utah, and Mrs. Tom (Jennifer) Everson of Penn Laird, Va.; bis mother, Helen C. Hops; a sister, Elaine Ward of Pasadena; a brother, Robert T. Pottenger of Minden, Nev.; and six grandchildren.

      HOPS. Helen Cornell Pottengcr -- Helen Cornell Pottenger Hops, born December 17, 1905, died March 23, 2000. She was a long-time resident of San Marino and Pasadena. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Pottenger Ward of Pasadena; her son, Dr. Robert Thomas Pottenger, Jr., of Minden, NV; granddaughters, Suzanne Levanger, Laura McConnaughey. Daphne Gill and Made Bales.

      She is survived by six other grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

      Family service at Forest Lawn in Glendale. Donations in her memory to the North American Racewalking Institute, PO Box 50312, Pasadena, CA 91115-0312.

      An heirloom pear-shaped diamond on a platinum chain, and a beautiful gown of white silk taffeta enhanced with Alencon lace that personified elegant simplicity, were worn by Miss Elaine Cornell Pottenger for her marriage to James Robert Sands.

      The daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas Pottenger of San Marino entered St. Edmund's Episcopal. Church, ; San Marino, shortly after 4 o'clock yesterday afernoon (sic). She was escorted to the altar by her father.

      Hybrid delphinium and yellow roses were carried by the members of the bridal entourage who were dressed in Provence-blue taffeta. They were. Misses Hania Puacz, maid of honor;. Ann Bullock-Webster, Lisa and Mina Hamilton of New York, Wendy Whitaker of San Francisco, Mrs, Robert Thomas Pottenger Jr. and Mrs. Ronald Pottenger.

      Six Serve Bridegroom a Ushers

      The ushers were Maynard Garrison of San Francisco, William Billheimer, Jack Billheimer, David Ott of Chicago, Capt. Robert Thomas Pottenger Jr., and Ronald Pottenger. The best man was George Sands.

      The Pottengers' residence on Oak Knoll Ave. was decorated with pastel flowers for the wedding reception at which guests passed through the receiving line formed before the drawing room fireplace, to the garden. Now on a motoring honeymoon that will take them first to Northern California, the young couple will arrive Aug. 1 in New York where they will live.

      Mrs. Pottenger Sands, daughter of Mrs. Donald Voorhees Hops of Pasadena and the late Dr. Robert Thomas Pottenger, was married in Pasadena to Donald Brian Ward, son of Mrs. Sterns Ward of Bel-Air and Leonard K. Ward of Hollywood.

      The bride's daughters, Laura and Daphne Sands, attended her and a family luncheon followed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hops. William Francis Nutt III was the bridegroom's best man.
