PINSON, Ala. - James E. Clendenin, 58, Pinson, died April 24, 2005, at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born July 18, 1946, in Anderson, the son of Harry O. and Pansy E. (Mason) Clendenin, and resided in Pinson since 2004, moving there from Oregon after having left Indiana in 1992.
Jim served with the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967. He retired in 1990 from the Union City, Ind., Police Department after 10 years of employment. After his retirement he was a security officer and owned and operated a cleaning service. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Cross in Pinson.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra J. (Hughins) Clendenin of Pinson, Ala; three daughters, Teresa Ann Hodges of Lynn, Ind., Donna Jean Clendenin of Union City, Ind., and Laura René Clendenin of Roseburg, Ore.; mother, Pansy E. Clendenin of Mesa, Ariz.; brother, Ralph E. Clendenin of Mesa, Ariz.; three granddaughters, Joanna Hodges, Kayla Himes and Brenda Himes; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1973; and a brother, Bud Clendenin, in 1988.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Jim's family members sharing in celebrating his life. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery, Yorktown, Ind. In honor of Jim's Scottish heritage, a bagpiper from the Highland High School Band Department will play at the graveside.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
