Harold Sackett
ASHLAND -- Harold R. Sackett, 77, of 200 Davis Road died Saturday afternoon in Mansfield General Hospital.
He was born July 7, 1911, in Ruggles Township, Ashland County, to Cloyd Mason and Lena Mae Russell Sackett, who preceded him in death. He retired as manager of the Gilbert Funeral Home and Chapel in Ashland. He had been active in the funeral profession since 1935 and was a member of the National and Ohio Funeral Directors Associations.
A member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a former member of its church council, he was a charter member of the Big Bucks Club and a member of Ashland Masonic Lodge 151 and Ashland Chapter 67, Royal Arch Masons. He was a past member of the Jaycees, the Civitan Club, the Optimists Club and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
Mr. Sackett is survived by his wife, Evelyn L. Fast Sackett; two sons, Duane H. of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Dennis L. of Ashland; four grandchildren; and one stepsister, Dortha Kauffman of Mansfield.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Gilbert-Van Hove Funeral Home, where services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Sanford Mitchell. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.

Evelyn Leota Fast Sackett
ASHLAND -- Evelyn Leota Fast Sackett, 91, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003.
She joined her husband and best friend, Harold R. Sackett, in heaven after a period of declining health.
Evelyn was born in Ruggles townsnip on February 23, 1911, to W. Carl and Bessie Critten-. den Fast, who preceded her in death.
Evelyn was very close to her sister, Louise Ringler of Ashland, SACKETT who survives and her brothers, Walter and Burdette Fast, who have passed.
Evelyn was a loving mother to her children. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Peggy Sackett of Houston, Texas, and Dennis and Kathleen Sackett of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
A deeply devoted grandmother, she leaves Sally Sackett and Lori Sprinkle, Kimberly and Kurt Oberholtzer, all of Ashland, Ginger and Mike Glaser of Minnesota and Greg and Robin Sackett of Maryland to mourn her loss. She enjoyed spending time with her great-grandsons, Colin and Nicholas Betts of Ashland.
On September 13, 1936, Evelyn married her partner for life, Harold Sackett They were blessed to have celebrated 51 years together until his death on July 23,1988.
Evelyn was a member of Sarah Copus Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for many years. She attended Rebecca Circle of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a longtime faithful member for the past 50 years.
Evelyn enjoyed a full and happy life.
We, her family, friends and neighbors who admired and loved her will miss her dearly.
Services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Dr. San-ford C. Mitchell officiating. Burial will be. in Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, Jan. 10, from 7-9 p.m. at Van Hove Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 County Road 1095, Ashland 44805.
