"Miss MacMonagle's Funeral Rites Here
Last rites for Miss Ruth V. MacMonagle, 67, of 35 Main St., a retired school
teacher, were held at the Garner Funeral home Sunday afternoon, Sept. 9,
with the Rev. Charles B. Hanna, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church,
officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Canton.
Miss MacMonagle died Friday morning, Sept. 7, in Potsdam Hospital where
she had been admitted at midnight. She had been in poor health for several
years and was stricken suddenly.
A daughter of Peter and Ora MacMonagle, she was born May 28, 1884 and
was graduated from St. Lawrence University. She studied languages in Europe.
Until her retirement six years ago, she was a teacher in the New York City
school system. On retiring, she moved to Potsdam where she was a member
of the Presbyterian Church and educational organizations.
Miss MacMonagle is survived by three half-brothers, Earl MacMonagle of
Potsdam; Leslie MacMonagle of Canton and Bert MacMonagle of Massena."
