Jack A. Capps
SOUTH HAVEN -- Jack Arthur Capps, 76, of South Haven passed away Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at South Haven Community Hospital. Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 6 at Calvin-Starks and Frost Funeral Home, South Haven, with the Rev. James Capps of Indianapolis and the Rev. Billy Dalton of South Haven, officiating. Friends wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to the charity of their choice.
Jack was born April 24, 1922, to J. Kenneth and Frances Capps in Lacota, Mich. He owned and operated Capps Quality Bakery. He also worked at Stone's Meat Packing Co., for 18 years and recently the Golden Brown Bakery until his retirement. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 667 in South Haven.
On Aug. 9, 1950, in Gallup, N.M., he married Dorothye M. Radosevich, and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters Sue Deckard of Hartford; Jan Pfaff and Cathy (Terry) Quinn, both of South Haven; three sons the Rev. James (Alice) Capps of Indianapolis, Joe (Nancy) Capps of Grand Rapids, Jack (Mary) Capps of Zeeland, Mich.; two sisters June Procyk of Palmdale, Calif., Linda Acree of Phoenix; nine grandchildren Terri, Kim, Joe, Amy, Becky, Sarah, Michael, Brandon and Nicole; three great-grandchildren Zack, Zoe, Lindsay; and several cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Kenneth and Frances Capps; and a brother, Ed Capps, in 1968.

Edwin Capps
Funeral services for Edwin S. Capps, veteran Sacramento newsman and a frequent visitor to the Auburn area, were held in Sacramento Monday.
Mr. Capps, who was 43, died of an apparent heart attack last Thursday.
He came to Sacramento as a United Press reporter in 1952 after several years of newspaper work in Nevada. In 1957 he became associated with Henry C. MacArthur in the Capitol News Service, which provides political and other Sacramento news to newspapers through the State.
Mr. Capps also was noted for his talent as an outdoor sports writer, and recently he was selected by the U. S. Department of Interior to make a summer tour of wildfowl breeding grounds in Canada.
He was a founder and active member of the Sacramento Press Club and the Gold Unit of the California Newspaper Publishers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; children, Kenneth, Steven and Katherine; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Capps of South Haven, Mich.

Edwin S. Capps
Edwin S. Capps, 43, news editor and partner with Henry C MacArthur in the Capitol News Service for the last 11 years died in Mercy San Juan Hospital this morning. Capps suffered a heart attack yesterday. shortly after he returned from a San Francisco medical checkup.
Capps had planned to attend his son's graduation from Highlands High School last night.
Born in Lacota, Mich., on Sept. 13, 1924, Capps attended South Haven High School and Western Michigan College.
Capps served in the North African campaign during World War II. He was graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in 1947.
He moved west after graduation to become editor and advertising manager of the Carson City, Nev., Chronicle and its subsidiary the Linden, Calif., Diamond. He later became owner and publisher of the Lake Tahoe News.
In 1952, Capps moved to Sacramento as a political' and fish-game writer for United Press. He assumed his Capitol News Service post in March 1957.
His syndicated column Fish 'n' Gamer appeared regularly in the Sacramento Union.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, and children, Kenneth, Steven, and Katherine. Capps lived at 5118 Elbert Way, Sacramento.

Survivors include his widow, a daughter, two sons, his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Remembrances may be made to the Edwin S. Capps Memorial Fund to be used for scientific wildlife research at Dye Creek Field Station.
