Arden H. Sackett (1837-1919) & Family

Arden SACKETT, his wife Margaret WINTER (born Dundee Scotland) and the first three of their children. The picture was taken about 1890 (Plymouth Michigan?) and Jay SACKETT is sitting on Arden's lap. Arden lost the two fingers on his right hand while a corporal in Company H, 20th Michigan Infantry at Peterburg Virginia in 1865. He was born in London Twp., Monroe Co., Michigan. His parents are believed to be Clark SACKETT and Fanny FERSTER (both of whom died while he was young). His grandfather is believed to be Joseph SACKETT who was born in Vermont and listed in the 1820 census of Elba, Genesee Co., NY. Other related Sacketts lived on S.E. Michigan in the 1840's. Arden SACKETT became "bitter" because he lost contact with his Sackett relations after his parents died. Photo source: Leonard Arden Sackett
