Sgt. James Guernsey Duignan (1922-1943), USMC

Missing in action, New Caledonia. Photo posted on Find A Grave by Sgt. Bellis, USMC, who states:

On December 27, 1943, Sgt. James G. Duignan was reported missing following the crash of a transport plane (RD4-5 airplane, Bureau #12432) coming from Tontouta, New Caledonia, enroute to Espiritu Santo, New Hebrides. The plane wreckage was spotted a few miles south of Queva Island in the Loyalty Group, northwest of New Caledonia (now Vanuatu). James was the radioman of the transport plane, which left Sydney, Australia to Espiritu Santo. James, along with six pilots and twelve gunners of Bombing Squadron 98-VB98, Lt. William R Larson of VC38, along with 4 other flight crew members of VMJ153, died in this transport plane crash. No bodies were recovered.
