Anna Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962)

Eleanor Roosevelt was First Lady of the United States from 1933 through 1945. Following the death of her husband, she served as US delegate to the United Nations (1945-1953) and chair of the UN's Human Rights Commission. In 1961, President Kennedy reappointed her as UN delegate and appointed her to the National Advisory Committee of the Peace Corps and Chair of the President's Commission on the Status of Women.
