- Based on her obituary, Rebecca is the daughter of George Owl and Rebecca Pond. Her mother, Rebecca Pond died in 1926, and Rebecca was adopted by her uncle, Harold Sackett Pond, her mother's brother (per the 1930 census), becoming Rebecca Pond.

Obituary of Rebecca Boyum-Allen
Rebecca Boyum-Allen, 96, of Cherokee, passed away after a brief illness on April 6, 2020.
She is preceded in death by her parents George Owl and Rebecca Pond Owl, as well as her husbands Dr. L.E. Boyum and Anthony Allen . In addition she is also preceded by her brother George Owl Jr. and sister Hillary Osborn along with one son, Tom Boyum.
Mrs. Boyum-Allen is survived by her beloved children; Dr. George Peter Boyum, Stillwater, MN, Thann Rebecca Boyum-Dum, Columbus, NC and The Honorable William Mark Boyum, Cherokee, NC. She also leaves behind her sister Evelyn Legassey, nieces Cate Hurt, Bonnie Legassey, nephew Everett Legassey and 2 grandchildren.
Rebecca was a teacher at taught at the Oconaluftee Job Corps for a number of years. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Rebecca Boyum-Allen will be remembered for her love of going to yard sales as well as painting and reading. She also loved the UNC Tarheels.
The family will have be having a private memorial service at a later date.

POND, SHELDON S. "PETE," 78, of Palm Harbor, died Thursday (Jan. 20, 1994) at Mease Hospital Countryside, Safety Harbor. He was born in Crary, N.D., and came here in 1982 from Morristown, N.J. He worked as a general manager for an insurance company. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a past president of Highland Lakes Villas on the Green and a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Dunedin. Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Dr. William, Morristown; two daughters, Mary Beth Hay, Bethlehem, Pa., and Emily Kay Pond, Santa Rosa, Calif.; two brothers, Harold S., Stroudsburg, Pa., and William, Bemidji, Minn.; a sister, Rebecca Boyum, Cherokee, N.C; an aunt, Polly Seeley, Washington, Conn.; and four grandchildren. Dr. Harold Pond Jr., 86, Pocono Medical Center internal medicine head
Dr. Harold Sackett Pond Jr., 86, of Stroudsburg died Tuesday, Feb. 16, in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Ruth J. (Peterson) Pond.
A graduate of the University of North Dakota, he was a doctor of internal medicine at the Pocono Medical Center and had a private practice until retiring in 1982. He was a first board certified internist 1947-49; first chief of the department of medicine in 1947 and continued as chief of the department until 1974. In 1985, he was a Gold Medal recipient. Previously, he taught at the University of Pennsylvania.
Born in Grand Forks, N.D., he was a son of the late Harold S. Sr. and Marian (Seeley) Pond.
He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Stroudsburg.
Pond was a lieutenant colonel in the Army American Red Cross in Ledo, Assam, India, and a member of the Army Medical Corps and Army Reserves.
He was also a member of the American Medical Association.
Survivors: Daughter, Susan Smith of Oneida, N.Y.; son, Peter of Belton, Texas; brother, William of Bernidji, Minn.; sister, Rebecca Bo-yum of Cherokee, N.C.; caregiver, Nadine Roth-Lazur of Saylorsburg, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services: 1 p.m. Feb. 27 in the church. No calling hours. Arrangements, William H. Clark Funeral Home, Stroudsburg.
