In 1807 Samuel in mentioned in the Settlement of the estate of the orphan children of Benjamin Iliff as have given the children a gift of $85.73.

Married Nov 29,1810, by Rev Wm. S.Fisher. Patence dau of William Wetherill of Wrightstown. Samuel of Milford N.J. (Pennsylvania Correspondent).

Soon after his marriage, he built a tannery in New Jersey (probably Hunterdon Co) which was destroyed by fire. He then removed his family to Muskingum Co, Ohio.

Samuel and some of his siblings may have traveled "Zane's Trace" to Zanesville, Ohio to claim their father's land grant as a veteran of the Revolutionary War.
------
"Zane's Trace" was cleared by Ebenezer Zane who owned "Zane's Ferry" at Wheeling, West Virginia. The road was poorly cleared with large stumps that caused wagons to get hung up, thus "getting stumped".

His father was John Iliff and his mother was Margaret Iliff nee Williams.
He also had daughters Rebecca, Sarah and Lucy Iliff who all died as children.
It is believed there is no record for where he was interred.
