      Mrs. Mary Scowden, of 309 S. Main St., received news of the death of her grandson, Raph Craft, 12 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Craft of Bushnell, Ill. The boy died at the Iowa City University Hospital following and illness of seven years. His mother is the former Dorothy Scowden. He also leaves a sister, Jean Ann. The body is being returned to La Porte for services and burial.

      MARY SCOWDEN, 71, DIES AT HOSPITAL; RITES WEDNESDAY

      MONTICELLO -- Mrs. Mary Scowden, 71, 309 S. Main St., died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday at White County Memorial Hospital where she had been admitted earlier that day.

      A resident of this city most of her life, she was married to Ralph W. Scowden, who died Nov. 20, 1954.

      Survivors are a son, Paul, Indianapolis; a daughter, Mrs. William Craft, Stone Lake, Iowa; a granddaughter; a sister, Mrs. Louise Jenkinson, Indianapolis.

      She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

      Friends may call at Miller Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be there at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Wallace McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Monticello Cemetery.
