      William Batterton

      William E. Batterton, 86, of 814 W. 14th St., formerly of Chili, died at 5:10 a.m. June 16, 1998, at the Marshfield Center where he had been a resident since March 1995.

      Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hansen's Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Kerry Wilson of Zion United Methodist Church will officiate.

      Burial will be in Nasonville Cemetery in the town of Rock. Mr. Batterton's family members will serve as pallbearers.

      Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and again after 10 a.m. Saturday, both at the funeral chapel.

      He was born Nov. 20, 1911, in Havana, Ill., the son of Edward and Ethel (nee Blunt) Batterton. Mr. Batterton was married four times. His first marriage was to Delenia Carter. His second marriage was to Mildred (nee Maston) Meyer. She died in an auto accident with her $on Glenn. He then married Elizabeth Zager who died later of cancer. His last marriage was to Thelma Downs.

      He was educated in Pembine schools and the agriculture courses at Wausaukee Technical School. After his education he worked at various jobs prior to World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater and attained the rank of staff sergeant. Following his honorable discharge he worked for Pabst Brewery in Peoria, Ill. He then farmed in Aurora until 1963. He later farmed in Nasonville, Lindsey and Chili while working at Marshfield Homes. Before his retirement he sold the farm to his son, Gale, and continued to live on the farm in Chili until entering the Marshfield Center.

      Surviving are his wife, Thelma Batterton of Safford, Ariz.; his children, James (Clara) Batterton of Pekin, 111., Charles (Coral) Meyer of Coal Valley, I11., Margaret (nee . Meyer) (Roger) Chilicote of Columbia Falls, Mont., Lois (nee Batterton) Floyd) Hopfensperger of Ramsey, I11., Kathleen (nee Batterton) (Francis) Meitner of Arpin and Gale (Candy) Batterton of Marshfield and numerous stepchildren. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and many step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many step-great-grandchildren; and by his sister, Velma Oldes of Peoria, I11.

      He was predeceased by two sons, Dale and Glenn Batterton; one grandson, Adam Batterton; and three sisters, Pearl Clark, Iola Harvath and Mildred Reynolds.

      Memorials may be designated in his name to the family who will estalish (sic) a memorial at a later date.

      Dale E. Batterton

      Dale E. Batterton, 35, Alexandria, Minn., fomerly (sic) of Route 2, Marshfield, died Thursday at his home.

      Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Nasonville Cemetery, with the Rev. Virgil E.Taylor of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow.

      Friends may call at the Hansen Funeral Home from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

      He was born Sept. 23, 1947 in Aurora, the son of William and Mildred (Meyers) Batterton. He received his education in Marshfield schools graduating from Marshfield Senior High School. He moved to Nasonville at the age of 14. After graduation he worked for Rollohome Corp. and Marshfield Homes for a few years before moving to Alexandria, Minn.. He was a real estate agent for Century 21 in Alexandria.

      He married Linda Krause from whom he later separated.

      He is survived by one son, Troy, and a daughter, Karen both of Granton; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. William Batterton of Chili; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Lois) Hopfensperger of Spencer, Mrs. Francis (Kathy) Meitner of Arpin; one brother, Gale Batterton of Chili; two half brothers, Charles Meyer of Moline, Ill., and James Batterton, Pekin, Ill.; one half sister, Mrs. Roger (Marge) Chilcote of Columbia Falls, Mont.

      His mother and brother were killed in an auto accident in 1968.
