He was a native and lifelong resident of Union City and was a former employee of Union City Body Co., and the N.Y. Central Railroad. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and was a member of the Union City American Legion, and the Eagles Lodge, No. 2790. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Evelyn Marie Wogerman Blackford; his mother, Mable Miller Blackford of Union City; two daughters, Kathleen M. Wilson Burns and Nanette H. Clendenin, both of Union City; eight grandchildren; one brother, Eldon Blackford of Indianapolis; one sister, Maxine Spence of Union City. His father, Albert, and a brother, Loyce, are deceased. Funeral service for Wayne Allen Blackford will be at 2 p.m. (Indiana time) Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Reichard-Oliver Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Hoagland and the Rev. Jim Brazell officiating. Burial will be in the Union City Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. (Indiana time) today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Randolph County Heart Fund or to the Shriners Burn Hospital.
