Notes |
- An artist. Mr. Beckworth was born at Hannibal, Mo., and resided when a young man at Chicago, Ill., where his father, who was a merchant, suffered serious financial loss in the great fire of 1871. A short time after that event his son took up art professionally. He studied in Paris at the Beaux Arts and in the studio of Carolus Duran. For many years he has had a studio in New York City, making a specialty of portraits of men of state and national prominence. His master piece, however, is said to be a life size picture of his wife, which was awarded a medal at the Paris exhibition of 1900.
