Anson Sackett, 1785-1869, son of (711) Richard and Martha Benedict Sackett, was married at Poultney, Vt, the place of his birth, Jan. 31, 1810, to Docia Ruggles, daughter of Denison Ruggles, of Hampton, N. Y. He was by occupation a farmer, by religious faith an Episcopalian, and in politics a Democrat. About the year 1812 he moved to Volney, Oswego Co., N. Y., and from there, in the winter of 1838, to Villenova, Chautauqua Co., N. Y., where he resided until his death in 1869. Jacob Kendal, an aged and respected citizen of Volney, writing in 1899, of by-gone days, says
that Anson and Jonathan Sackett came there in 1812, bought a farm and worked it together for a time and then divided it; Anson taking the west part and building a house for which he, Jacob Kendal working with his father's ox team in the woods, helped get out the timber, and adds : 'The Sacketts as citizens were counted number
one." He writes also that Anson was one of the officers of the Episcopal Church at Fulton, four and a half miles from his home.

RESIDENT OF ROCKFORD NEARLY SIXTY YEARS DIES JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT.
Mrs. Simena R. Sackett, widow of E. B. Sackett, died at 1:15 this morning. Heart failure, with advanced years, is given as cause, one year ago, of her daughter, Mrs. Clinton B. Helm. She never recovered from the shock of this bereavement. Mrs. Sackett had been unable to leave her bed for two weeks and she lapsed into unconsciousness the day before her passing.
Mrs. Sackett was born at Eaton, Madison county, New York, July 30, 1836, and was in her 78th year. Three years later her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ward, removed to Westfield, in Chautauqua county. The marriage of Miss Ward and Ezra B. Sackett was solemnized in 1853, and they took up there residence in Forestville, N. Y.
Mr. and Mrs. came to Rockford in 1855 and Mrs. Sackett had resided here nearly sixty years. Mr. Sackett succeeded his brother, Cyrus T. Sackett, in the wallpaper and decorating business, and to this vocation Mr. Sackett devoted all his active life. He died 18 years ago. The family home for many years was on South First street. They were attendants at the First Congregational church.
Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Sackett. One daughter, Minnie, died in infancy, and Jennie, Mrs. Clinton B. Helm, died January, 1913. Two sons survive, Charles T. and Harry R., both of Rockford.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon from the home of Charles T. Sackett, 1989 Harlem avenue. Rev. John Gordon will officiate.
